Dogs, cats, and other companion animals should be kept out of wildlands. Domestic dogs have been known to harass wild animals (such as coyotes, rabbits, birds, and deer), and disturb breeding animals and other predators. Other good reasons to keep pets indoors or on a leash include encounters with rattlesnakes and attracting diseased ticks and fleas.

Responsible Pet Owners:

  • Keep cats indoors or put them on a leash.
  • Keep dogs indoors or in enclosed yards.
  • Walk dogs on leashes or take them to a dedicated dog park.
  • Clean up after pets. Apart from the aesthetic issue, pet feces spreads disease and negatively impacts water quality.
