From Mexico to Santa Barbara our beaches are used by people – visitors, residents, harbors, and businesses occupy nearly every inch.  Learning to let birds nest, marine mammals rest on the shore, and fish breed in the sand enriches our enjoyment of the natural beauty of the wild at the beach – and gives us the insight to make thoughtful choices about beach usage that will allow animals to continue to thrive. Rocks and pebbles, clumps of kelp along the shore, plants (that at first glance may look like weeds), and wildlife from microscopic plankton to giant whales all have a place and purpose in the coastal landscape.

Please leave shells, seaweed, and living creatures where they are on the beach.
