Dear Reader,

Thank you for taking the time to explore how to Live Lightly In Our Watersheds. Please join us in our ongoing efforts to co-exist with the wonderful biota with whom we share the Santa Monica Mountains, its shoreline, bay and sky.

A rainbow huge thank you to all the community partners who inspired, helped to create, funded and are distributing the Living Lightly Guide website and blog, starting with the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains, the Office of Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, former Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Agoura Hills, The Bay Foundation, Calabasas, Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, Malibu, Metropolitan Water District, Patagonia, Westlake Village, West Basin Municipal Water District, Sempra Utilities, Southern California Edison, Thousand Oaks and Ventura.

With due appreciation for all participants, including Melissa Cole Johnson who put together the original project with engaged local stakeholders, the new vision for this project was driven by some key staffers, especially Susan Nissman at Supervisor Yaroslavsky’s and now Supervisor Kuehl’s office, Jennifer Brown at City of Malibu and Dr. Shelley Luce, then at the Bay Foundation: so an extra layer of gratitude for your personal thought and care about the issues that make it so vital to live lightly in the Santa Monica Mountains Watersheds.

Walk in beauty.

Sincerely,
Melina Sempill Watts
Living Lightly Guide Editor
