Hiking with Children
Keep children younger than 10 years old within arms’ length distance while hiking. View a Trail Map of the Santa Monica Mountains.

Rattlesnake Manners
Freeze and back away slowly. If you get bitten – do not run or get excited. Be calm and call for help. Make sure to request anti-venom when you call 911.

Mountain Lion Encounters
Face the animal, stand up and make yourself as large as possible, make noise, maintain eye contact, back away slowly. If attacked – do not run. Fight back and remember to protect your neck and throat.
