Public parking and easy access are available at Los Angeles County and California State beaches. Favorite beaches for locals include Topanga State Beach, Malibu Lagoon State Beach, and Leo Carrillo State Beach.

For information on public access and coastal development, contact the California Coastal Commission. All beaches are public domain up to the high water mark…basically, the wet sand is considered public property. Take care not to trespass on or under people’s homes when walking the shoreline.

Did you Know?

The County of Los Angeles offers free beach wheelchairs on a first-come, first-served basis at select locations. Lifeguards may be on patrol or on an emergency call and may not always be immediately available to issue or accept a beach wheelchair.
