Visiting tide pools at our local beaches is a great opportunity to discover marine wildlife. When you explore pools at low tide, you will find a world of bizarre animals in a vast array of colors, textures, and shapes. You should not consume, collect, or move any species. In fact, these activities are illegal in designated Marine Protected Areas along the California coast such as from Paradise Cove to El Matador State Beach.

Don’t forget to read Tips for Tide Pool Viewing before your trip and download the California Tidepools App to learn about the critters you find.
